Consumers Against Copy Control is a petition with the intent to force record companies to stop releasing music on copy controlled audio discs.
The reason for this is that copy controlled discs do not play correctly on all audio devices. They may not play correctly on:
- PC/Mac CD-/DVD-ROMS
- car CD-players
- portable CD-players
- DVD-players
- digital home cinema systems
- game consoles (PlayStation, X-Box, GameCube)
- even some normal CD players
Copy controlled discs are not CDs. They use different type of technology, and record companies are not allowed to call discs with copy contoll "CDs".
The Norwegian version of this campaign has already gathered over 7000 signatures.
